DfMO endorses Sean Spence for 25th District Rep
In a well attended and highly charged meeting last night, Sean Spence won the endorsement of Columbia DFA in the race to fill Judy Baker's 25th District seat. There are three very excellent Democrats with progressive bona fides running, so the choice was difficult.
The voting was conducted by President Wayne Brekhus using IRV ballots, and after 3 minute speeches by Bob Pund, Mary Still and Sean,(and a bit of explanation on how instant runoff voting works), the balloting of the 47 present went most smoothly.
Congratulations Sean Spence. You are the candidate who impressed those present most with your ability to represent the 25th District, and your determination to run a DFA style grassroots campaign.
Two weeks ago, DfMO conducted a very successful Candidate Forum for the 25th District at the Daniel Boone Regional Library. The Friends Room was packed as the three candidates thoughtfully answered a range of questions and made their case for their candidacies. The endorsement vote last night was the culmination of a long vetting process including that debate.
On May 21st at 7:00 PM, we will be holding another Forum, for the two candidates running in the 23rd District. This will be held at the Carpenter's Union Hall at 404 Tiger Lane(Behind KFC on Worley near Stadium)
